Hi Leslie,
Thank you for writing to me! Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been around for thousands of years,
and doctors use various practices together with herbal medicine to address health problems. For instance,
acupuncture can be used to treat pain and improve overall wellness by inserting thin needles into our body. If you
want to know more, there is more information available online.
In the most recent battle against COVID-19, TCM has proved its effectiveness in boosting people’s immune
system, relieving disease symptoms and preventing mild symptoms from getting worse.
reduce death rate and improved patients’ chances of recovery.
Best wishes to your family and take care of yourself in the pandemic!
Yours,
Li Hua
21. A。 依据见 Audubon Animated 部分“Flex(活动)your creative and observational muscles in a “Draw
like Audubon” hands-on sketching activity.”一句。
22. C。 依据见 Space Fest 部分“We’ll be celebrating the many women in space science and their
contributions to the field.”一句。
23. C。 依据见 Bell Summer Camps 部分“Camps go on sale to Bell members on Saturday,
February 8, for an exclusive week’s pre-sale and discounts of $30/camp on full-week registration.”一句。这一天
有“on sale”和“discounts of $30”,所以可以“save money”。
例如:“pretending to look at a glossy cruise brochure”,“His sunglasses masked his eyes, but I knew
he wasn’t looking at the brochure: he hadn’t turned a page for the last ten minutes.”,“I moved his saucer and
found his tip, along with a card: I am deeply indebted to you.”,和“I now live an honest life, thanks to you. God
bless you!
26. B。 根据倒数第二自然段中“Seeing human kindness through his heroic gesture turned my life around
and brought faith back into my life.”
根据第一、二自然段的意思,以及第三自然段中 this work should encourage us to think
about intelligence not as a “lump of something that’s in our heads,” as the psychologist Joshua Aronson puts it,
but as “a transaction among people.”
(Even alone in an exam room)”大脑中出现的声音(voices),
A 选项“I am as prepared as I can be.”
B 选项 “I am supposed to do well on this.”
在理解 “be supposed to do”时,请不要受到汉语思维的影响,请看 Oxford Idioms Dictionary
对它的解释“be expected or required to do sth by rules, the law, an agreement, etc”, 它的含义是“在外界的期2020“皖江名校联盟”决战高考最后一卷·英语参考答案 第 3 页(共 6 页)
C 选项“The testing room is different from my classroom.”
D“I am solving the problems faster than the one
sitting in front of me.”
否“influence performance on an exam”,要看它是否有来自外界或环境的“assumption 或 expectation”,不
students suffered because they were worried about confirming negative stereotypes about their group; The girls
were anxious about confirming assumptions about their gender, while the boys were anxious about living up to
them ;And as social creatures, humans are strongly affected by what these voices say 可以推断出答案为 D。
的受众是 the general public(普罗大众)。
36. G。 承接上句 just about every parent thinks that his or her kid is special,同时引出后面的内
容。
37. E。 依据空后句子maybe even something fairly
significant, about your parents’ religious or ethnic(种族的)background, their level of income or education, maybe
even their politics 可推断出答案。
38. B。 根据“From what we can tell, your name is not your destiny(命运). The story goes that two
brothers in New York were named Loser and Winner by their parents. Loser turned out to have a great life as an
upstanding citizen. He was a police detective.”
assess—to calculate the amount or value of sth.
blow up 爆炸;发怒;speed up 加速;give up 放弃;break up 破裂,分开。
46. A。承接前面句子中的 “…was going to borrow someone’s…”。
finance—to provide money for a project。
48. B。quit—to stop doing sth =give up 这里指不在拥有车。
56. B。in return 作为回报;in vain 徒劳;in force 有效;in advance 提前,预先。

Text 1
W: Yesterday I booked a flight for my trip to Osaka next week. I'm leaving soon.
M: Great! You haven't had any time off for almost two years.
Text 2
M: I'm having trouble meeting people here in the city. Any ideas?
W: The gym is a good place to meet people. Or play in a team sport, such as baseball and volleyball.
M: That sounds fine. I'm good at playing tennis.
Text 3
W: Good evening, sir. Our special this evening is seafood. Would you like to try it?
M: Yeah, that sounds great. And a glass of ice water, please.
Text 4
M: When is the best time to see the Great Wall?
W: Some think the best time is spring. Others think it's more beautiful in autumn.
M: I would like to see it when the forest turns yellow.
Text 5
W: Philip, have you got a meeting in Edinburgh?
M: Yes, I'm going to see some leaders from headquarters. Why?
W: I'm going to visit Glasgow on Wednesday, and it's quite near Edinburgh.
M: Ah... I'm going to drive there tomorrow, so you can go with me.
Text 6
W: Good morning. May I help you?
M: I hope so. I will stay here for only two days, and I'd like to see the main sites.
W: Then I suggest you start with the Lake Park. You can take a boat trip there.
M: Good idea. What else?
W: Why don't you go to the Central Mountain? You can get a magnificent view of the city.
M: Mmm, that sounds interesting, and at night?
W: Spring Square has plenty of night life. You can get a taste of folk music and dancing. And if you want to buy
some souvenirs, you can go to Nice Avenue. There are many excellent shops.
M: Excellent! Thanks a lot.
Text 7
M: So, Nancy, we should probably start thinking about our winter vacation plans.
W: Yeah, I think we should fly down to Florida for a couple of weeks.
M: Uh, I'd really prefer not to. Those holiday travel packages cost too much.
W: Well, how about going swimming in Hawaii for a week or two?
M: I'd rather not. We did it last year. Remember?
W: And we had a really good time. Do you have any suggestions?
M: Um... you know, I never have any good ideas.
W: OK. Here's something different. How about going to the New Year's Eve party in New York City? We've
always wanted to do that.
M: But I don't really like big parties. They're always crowded.
W: You're driving me crazy, Mike! All right. Let's just stay at home for two weeks!
M: No way! That sounds too boring! Can't you think of anything else?
Text 8
M: I didn't see you in the history class on Friday. Where have you been?
W: I wasn't here on Friday. My geography class went on a field trip to look at some of the different rocks. In fact,
we stayed there for one night.
M: Really? That sounds excellent. Where did you go?
W: A desert. It gets hot during the day, but it cools off very quickly at night. It is very dry there.
M: Well, did you enjoy the trip?
W: Of course I did. The desert is nicer than you might think. Since there are so few plants growing there, it's very
easy to see different rocks. And the natural colors of the rocks shine in the sun. You should really go there to have
a look.
M: I really want to go there.
W: Well, my class will organize another tour to the mountains next Saturday. Are you interested in it?
M: Sure. Count me in.
Text 9
W: Fred, did you go to the basketball game last night? It was really exciting, and almost everyone was there.
M: I was dying to, but I missed it. I was practicing for my piano concert and I lost track of time. I guess you went,
Jenny?
W: I did, but I had to leave early. My mom asked me to get home before 9:00 so she could go to work. She didn't
want to leave Anna home alone.
M: Your morn is on night shifts again? That's not easy.
W: Yes, but it's just for a month. And she's taking care of a lot of patients, so I can't really complain.
M: You'll miss the class Christmas play!
W: Well, I missed the end of the basketball game, too. Right after I left, things really heated up. I heard we got
most of our points in the last quarter.
M: Well, at least your schoolwork won't suffer. If you're home every evening, you can study and go to bed early. I
will still have to balance studying and practicing.
W: It will be worth it when you have a career you love, won't it?
M: Yes. I have always dreamed of being a pianist in the city orchestra.
Text 10
W: The danger of nuclear power to health, safety, and even life itself can be summed up in one word: radiation.
Nuclear radiation has a certain mystery about it, partly because it cannot be detected by human senses. It can't be
seen or heard, or touched or tasted, even though it may he all around us. There are other things like that. For
example, radio waves are all around us but we can't detect them or sense them without a radio receiver. Similarly,
we can't sense radioactivity without a radiation detector. But unlike common radio waves, nuclear radiation is
harmful to human beings and other living things.
At very high levels, radiation can kill animals or human beings outright by killing musses of cells in vital
organs. But even the lowest levels can do serious damage. There is no level of radiation that is completely safe. If
the radiation does not hit anything important, the damage may not be significant. This is the case when only a few
cells are hit, and if they are killed outright, your body will replace the dead cells with healthy ones. But if the few
cells are only damaged, and if they reproduce themselves, you may be in trouble. They reproduce themselves in
bad ways. They can grow into cancer. Sometimes this does not show up for many years. Radiation can hurt us. We
must know the truth.
