People who can’t afford the best clothing still have to wear something — and they like to keep up with the trends, too. So, this color that you think is so bad was carefully picked and affected much of the world in its time. Now, of course, it looks less impressive than it did back then — especially being on such a poorly made sweater. ‎ Text 8 ‎ W: Something great happened today. M: What’s that?‎ W: Well, you know that my Uncle Jim has been very sick for a while. ‎ M: Yeah, poor man! How’s he doing these days?‎ W: Worse and worse. You’re a great sister!‎ Text 10 ‎ Hey, class! Guess where you’re going for the annual school trip? To France! It’s going to be amazing! (17) And guess who’s going with you? Yes, your favorite teacher — me, Mr. Fun! But seriously, this is probably going to be the best trip yet. Mr. Mayer and I are planning what we’ll do while we’re there. We’ll be going during spring break, at the end of March. (18) The flowers in the French countryside will be blooming while we eat delicious French bread for breakfast. We’ll be staying in the beautiful city of Nice for a few days, where we’ll watch a boat race along the Mediterranean coast. We’re also planning to spend plenty of time in Paris. Our days in the capital will be spent walking around the city streets in search of good desserts, drinking coffee in the famous cafés, and visiting places like the Eiffel Tower. (19) One day, we will play a human chess game against a local Paris high school. You’ve gotten pretty good at the game, so we’ll see how well you can play against another school! (20) Remember that it’s always a game where the best strategy wins. You’ll still have to try to win their king in a creative way. Afterwards, we’ll all go out for steak and French fries! We’re going to have a great time!‎
