从害羞的女孩到流行歌星
为本月的《青年世界》杂志，我采访了19岁的亚裔流行歌星王坎迪。
坎迪告诉我她过去非常害羞，于是她从事唱歌来应对自己的羞怯。
随着她的情况渐渐好转，她敢于在全班同学面前高歌，后来在全校师生面前歌唱。
现在她一点儿也不腼腆了而且喜欢在众人面前歌唱。
我问坎迪在她出名后的生活有哪些不同。
她解释说，有很多好事，比如能旅行，随时结识新朋友。
“我过去在学校并不引人注目，但现在无论我走到哪里我都会被人关注。”
然而，太多的关注也不是一件好事。
“我一直担心自己在别人眼中的样子， 还有我必须注意自己的言行。
我不再拥有太多的私人时间了。
现在与朋友们外出对我来说几乎是不可能的，因为总有保镖守在我周围。”
对于所有那些想出名的年轻人来说坎迪得说什么话呢？
“嗯，”她慢慢道来，“你必须准备好舍弃你普通人的生活，
你永远无法想象通往成功的路径是多么艰难。
许多次我本想放弃，但我奋力坚持下来。
要想成功你确实需要不少才华和辛勤工作。
只有极少数人能攀上成功之巅。”

From Shy Girl to Pop Star
For this month’s Young World magazine, I interviewed 19-year-old Asian pop star Candy Wang.
Candy told me that she used to be really shy and took up singing to deal with her shyness.
As she got better, she dared to sing in front of her class, and then for the whole school.
Now she’s not shy anymore and loves singing in front of crowds.
I asked Candy how life was different after she became famous.
She explained that there are many good things, like being able to travel and meet new people
all the time.
“I didn’t use to be popular in school, but now I get tons of attention everywhere I go.”
However, too much attention can also be a bad thing.
“I always have to worry about how I appear to others, and I have to be very careful about
what I say or do.
And I don’t have much private time anymore.
Hanging out with friends is almost impossible for me now because there are always
guards around me.“
What does Candy have to say to all those young people who want to become famous?
“Well,” she begins slowly, “you have to be prepared to give up your normal life.
You can never imagine how difficult the road to success is.
Many times I thought about giving up, but I fought on.
You really require a lot of talent and hard work to succeed.
Only a very small number of people make it to the top.”
