Last year, I worked in a middle school near my mother's house, and I stayed with
her for a month. During that time, I helped her do some housework and buy some food.
After the first week, I noticed that the food was eaten up very quickly. Then
I began keeping an eye on my mum. To my surprise, I found that she would put some
of the food into a paper bag and go out with it at about nine every morning. And
finally, I decided to follow her. I saw her taking the food to the street children.
She would also spend a lot of time talking and playing with them.
One day, I talked to a neighbour and found out that my mum was well-known in
the area. The children were very friendly with her and even thought of her as their
own mother. Then it hit me-why wouldn't she want to tell me about it. Was she worried
that I would stop buying food if I found out?10
when my mum got home, I gave her a big hug. I told her she didn't need to keep
it a secret from me. And she told me something about the children. Some of them lived
with an old lady in a small house. Others slept on the street. For years. she was
helping the poor street children by giving them food. After she told me everything,
I was so moved by how selfless(无私的)she was. She helped others in need. As her

The Internet has become not only a necessary but also a virtual(虚拟的) world
for people. With the development of the Internet, internet friendship has also become
very popular. Online friends are those people who have known each other through the
Internet. Making internet friends is the same as making pen friends. Many famous

websites and they share the same interests. It is difficult to make friends with
someone you can’t see or feel. That is the main problem of internet friendship.
A virtual friendship would not last forever without seeing each other, but it is
an advantage for some people because they are afraid to speak in pubic.
On the other hand, the chances of cheating(欺骗) are very high in an internet
friendship. Some people make friends on the Internet with wrong intentions(企图).So
while making friends over the Internet, one has to be very careful. Here are some
suggestions for you.
·Do not give personal information, such as your telephone number, address,
location, school name as well as your parents’information, to strangers on the
Internet.
·Do not exchange personal photos of you or any family member with people you
meet over the Internet.

ask older or other experienced people for advice if you want to go to meet an internet
friend.

Dear Peter,
How is it going? At my school we’re talking about what we should do to be a 16
good student.
To be a polite middle school student,I think we have to do a lot of things. First,
It's important for us to speak politely. We must respect the others. When I meet
someone I know ,I often greet him by saying hello to him happily. We are supposed
to be kind to others, warm-hearted to everyone, and generous to our friends.Second,
we can't throw rubbish everywhere. We must throw them in the rubbish bins. Littering
is not a good habit. Every time I go to the park, I always pick up the litter and
put it into the bin. I think if we all do so , the world will be cleaner.Anther
important thing is that we must follow the rules . There is no doubt that waiting
in line is the important rule. I never rush into the bus.Waiting may be a happy thing.
I often feel happy when I do something that is better for us. I think being a polite
middle school student is proud.
Anything new at your school?
Yours,
Li Hua
