Dear Michael,
How's your vacation? I'm visiting my uncle in Spain. He lives in Valencia, a
sunny and beautiful city in Spain.
Yesterday, I had great fun. My uncle took me to the Tomato Festival in Bunol,
which is just 30 miles away from where my uncle lives. The Tomato Festival is called
“La Tomatina” in Spanish. It was the biggest and messiest (脏的) tomato fight in

the world. My uncle told me the crowded people here were around 38,000 and this
was more than four times the population of Bunol.
The tomato fight started as soon as the first banger was beaten. Then everyone
including me started throwing tomatoes at each other. Tomatoes must be squashed
before people threw them in order not to hurt anybody. There was no winner in this
fight, but we all had fun. As soon as a second banger was beaten, people stopped
throwing.
I really had a great time. I wish you were here, too. I hope I will hear from you
soon. Take care.

In Britain, Boxing Day is usually celebrated on December
26th, which is the following day after Christmas Day. However,
strictly speaking, Boxing Day is the first weekday after
Christmas. Like Christmas Day, Boxing Day is a public holiday.
This means it's a nonworking day in the whole of Britain. When
Boxing Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the following Monday is the public
holiday.
The exact origin( 起 源 ) of the holiday is unclear. One of the thoughts is that
during the Middle Ages, when great sailing ships were setting off to discover new
land, a Christmas box was placed by a priest (神父) on each ship. Those sailors who
wanted to ensure a safe return would drop money into the box. It was sealed up and
kept on board until the ship came home safely. Then the box was handed over to the
priest in the exchange for the saying of a mass of thanks for the success of the sailing.
The priest wouldn't open it to share the contents with the poor until Christmas.
One more thought is about the “ Alms Box ” placed in every church on
12
Christmas Day. Worshippers (做礼拜的人) put gifts for the poor into it. These boxes
were always opened the day after Christmas. That is why that day became known as
Boxing Day.
Today, many businesses, organizations and families try to keep the traditional
spirit of Boxing Day alive by donating (捐赠) their time, services and money to aid
Food Banks, providing gifts for the poor, or helping families in need. Besides,
spending time with family and shopping are popular Boxing Day activities now.
59. If Christmas Day is on a Saturday, Boxing Day will be celebrated on ____.
A. December 25th B. December 26th
C. December 27th D. December 28th
60. What does the underlined phrase “sealed up” mean?
A. 密封 B. 悬挂
C. 归还 D. 传递
61. The following activities can show the traditional spirit of Boxing Day EXCEPT
____.
A. offering gifts to the poor
B. supporting families in need
C. spending time with family
D. giving money to aid Food Banks

The Chongyang Festival falls on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month and is
also called the Double Ninth Festival. As both the month and the day are nine, it got
this name. To celebrate the day, people usually climb mountains and enjoy
chrysanthemums(菊花), so the festival is also known as the Height Ascending(登高)
Festival or the Chrysanthemum Festival. In China, nine has the similar pronunciation
with the word “forever”, meaning long life. So the Chinese government set the day
as the Seniors' Day. The festival has a history of over 2 , 000 years. During the
Warring States Period, there was the Chongyang Festival. During the Jin Dynasty,
there were customs of enjoying chrysanthemums and drinking wine on the day. It was
not officially set as a festival until the Tang Dynasty. Since then, all the people have
spent the festival with kinds of activities. In 1989, the Chinese government set the day
as the Seniors' Day.
As September has the clear sky and fresh air, it is a very good time to climb the
mountain. There will be a happy sense of excitement by climbing the mountain in this
season. Also, it is good for health. Since the Western Han Dynasty, it has been the
custom of climbing on the Chongyang Festival.
On that day, drinking chrysanthemum wine is regarded as a way to prevent
disasters and bad things. Inserting zhuyu and sticking chrysanthemums are also

The hero in my heart is a famous Hollywood actor. He started his career at the
age of 19 in the film Endless Love. What makes me admire him is not only his
handsome appearance but also his acting skills. He is not very tall, about 1. 73 metres
tall, but has quite a charming figure. When he first came into my sight, I was deeply
attracted by his strongly pronounced eyebrows and the mole under his huge bright
green right eye. You can not resist such a scene in which he says “Hello, I'm Tom. ”

I walked into a stranger as he passed by me.
“Excuse me,” I said.
He replied with a smile and said, “Please excuse me, too. I didn't notice you. ”
We apologized (道歉) and went for our own ways.
Later that day, when I was cooking, my daughter was standing too near. When I turned to
reach for some milk, I nearly knocked her over. “Move out of the way!” I shouted.
She walked away sadly. But I didn't feel like I had to apologize to her.
While I was in bed that evening, my husband said to me, “While dealing with a stranger,
you were polite. But with a daughter you love, you were unkind. Your daughter brought you
some flowers that she picked herself this afternoon. You will find them in the kitchen by the
24
door. Have you seen the tears in her eyes?”
I quietly went and sat down by my daughter's bed.
“Honey, I am so sorry,” I said. “Are these the flowers you picked for me?”
She said, “I found them by the tree. I picked them because they're pretty like you. I knew
you'd like them, especially the blue ones. ”
I tearfully replied, “Sweetie, I'm really sorry for the way I acted today. I shouldn't have
shouted at you. ”

The first time my wife Linda gave birth was in a hospital.
When Linda got pregnant(怀孕) for the second time, we wanted a home birth, not just for
ourselves, but for our daughter. We are very open with our daughter. We want to teach her
respect and awe(敬畏) for the things of bodies. So she was part of the process from the very
beginning.
In the morning, our daughter offered her mom water and food while she rested. When she
found the noise and activity of birth, she was too nervous to stay long, so she spent a few
minutes next to the tub(盆), then went into another room to play. The midwives (接生婆) called
her back in time to see her brother come into the world. As Linda pulled our tiny newborn son
up, our daughter and I rushed to her side, all four of us hugging and crying. We were very
excited. That night, and many times since then, our daughter said, “I'm so proud of Mom for
having a baby. ”It's a part of her life.
It was crucial that our daughter was part of that experience, not just for her, but for Linda
and me as well. Everything we wanted for her—a very familiar environment; continuing
support; good food—were things we needed but didn't have the first time Linda gave birth. We
crossed this threshold(门槛) together, as a family, and it was messy and painful and unusual and
mysterious and really perfect.

D. the writer wanted a home birth, only just for their daughter

World's history in one place
Is it possible to put millions of years of the world's history into one building? The British
Museum seems to think so.
“A History of the World in 100 Things”, an exhibition about rare and ancient things
from the world, has made it a success.
The British Museum says it owns at least 8 million historical things. But why choose these
100 things to tell stories of our world's history?
It all started with a challenge(挑战).
Neil MacGregor, who was once the director of the British Museum, was asked by BBC to
choose 100 things from the museum's huge collection. The things had to include things from the
beginning of human history about 2 million years ago to the present day.
MacGregor accepted, and took four years to choose each thing himself. In 2010,
MacGregor appeared on BBC radio, giving a detailed(详细的) explanation of each thing. The
show was a big hit and all these 100 things were shown in the British Museum. A book with
33
photos of each thing soon followed.
“The things had to cover the whole world, from a cooking pot to a golden galleon, from a
Stone Age tool to a credit card,” MacGregor wrote. The collection includes many important
things from China. There is a banknote from the Ming Dynasty, showing China as the first
country to use paper money.
But it's not just ancient things that are shown. Among them are some modern things like a
solarpowered lamp and even a throne made of weapons created by an African artist.
“Of course, the collection could only be ‘a' history of the world. But it is still a history that
people in the present world need to know. ” MacGregor wrote.
56. “A History of the World in 100 Things” is a(n) ____.
A. TV programme about Africa
B. challenge of scientific research
C. book about modern development
D. exhibition of the world's history
57. When did MacGregor give a detailed explanation of each thing on BBC radio?
A. In 2010. B. In 2009. C. In 2008. D. In 2007.
58. We can learn that the BBC programme by MacGregor was ____.
A. successful B. expensive
C. regular D. traditional
59. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A. The things shown cover half of the world.
B. Neil MacGregor used to be a director of BBC.
C. China was the first country to use paper money.
D. The British Museum owns 2 million historical things.
60. How many years did MacGregor use to choose the 100 things?
A. Two. B. Three. C. Four. D. Five.

As students, what can we do to keep our daily life in order? In my opinion, we
should behave as follows.
First, while walking or driving on the road, we should obey the traffic rules.
36
Besides, remember not to carve or draw anywhere during visiting places of
interest. What's more, making a lot of noise in public is also a kind of pollution. It is
as harmful as littering and spitting everywhere.
Last but not least, when we go to the zoo or other public places, we should do as
we are required. For example, don't jump the queue or don't cross the fence to feed
animals. Only when we behave well can we live in a well ordered society.

八、阅读理解。(共 12 小题,每小题 2 分,共 24 分)
A
Have you ever had problems in your life and don't know how to be happy? If so, you will
find “Being a Happy Teenager” by Andrew Matthews useful. In his book, Matthews tells us
how to have a happy life and answers the questions of teenagers. The book says we should stop
being angry. The book tells of useful skills. For example, if you want to make your memory
better, you can put what you will have learned into pictures of your mind. Many teenagers think
38
that happiness comes from a good exam result or praise from other people. But you can still be
happy when there are no such “good” things.
Success comes from a good attitude. If you learn from problems, you have success in the
future. Some school boys have problems such as being too tall or too short, but Matthews tells
us happiness comes from thinking about things in a positive way. If you are tall, you can get a
better view (视线) at the movie. If you are short, your clothes and shoes take less room in your
bedroom! This is Matthews's most important lesson: you choose to be happy!
51. Andrew Matthews is a ____.
A. doctor B. teacher C. writer D. driver
52. What does the book advise you to do if you want to have a better memory?

I'm not much of a crier most of the time. But recently when I was reading a book on a
plane, I started crying. Of course, it came as a big surprise when tears came up. No matter how
hard I tried, I wasn't able to control myself.
Oh no, not this now. I thought to myself. But even as the thought entered my brain, I felt
the first hot drop of salty water coming down my face. I put my head down, hoping that I could
go on reading.
In fact, the harder I tried, the more tears pushed their way out of my eyes. You could guess
how surprised the man next to me looked.
I dropped my head in shame. He must think I was crazy. Maybe I could turn toward him,
hold up the cover of the book and say in my crying voice, “I'm sorry, sir. It's just a really good
book!” But I didn't say anything. Instead, I just put my head back against the seat and let the
tears run. Do you know what decision I made while I was crying? My decision was that it was
okay if he thought I was crazy. I'd rather be crazy than be the kind of person who wouldn't cry
when the situation called for it, or who wouldn't let herself feel anything at all.
I've been that girl who has spent so much time trying to make sure people didn't think I
was crazy. But now I don't want to be that girl any more—that bored and sad girl. I'd rather be
this girl who is able to forgive (原谅), love and act, even if it means being disappointed or being
hurt again and again.
55. The writer started crying because ____.
A. she is usually a crier
B. she is kind of crazy

58. According to the passage, we know the writer ____.
A. decided to change herself bravely
B. lived a sad and boring life
C. wouldn't cry in any terrible situation
D. wouldn't let others feel anything at all

Remember when you were a little child trying to learn to walk?
First, you had to learn how to balance (平衡) yourself and stand. You fell down, and then
got back up. You laughed sometimes and cried at other times. After much practice, you finally
learned how to balance yourself. You got much pleasure from this new feeling of
power—you'd stand everywhere you could. It was a happy time—you did it!
Now the next step—walking. You'd seen others do it. It didn't look that hard—you should
just move your legs while you were standing. Wrong—more difficult than you ever imagined.
But after you tried again and again and again, you understood how to walk.
If people found you walking, they cheered, “Oh, look at what the kid is doing. ” This
encouraged you! But look back on those days when you were the little child—how many times
did you try when no one was watching, or when no one was cheering? You couldn't wait for
someone to encourage you to take the next steps. You learned how to encourage yourself.
So, keep trying and encouraging yourself as you learned to walk if you want to succeed in
doing something.

What does Beijing's Palace Museum look like at night? Many people don't know the
answer to this question, as it closes at around 4:30 p. m. in winter and 5:00 p. m. in summer.

On Sunday 23rd April, more than 30, 000 people joined in the 2017 London
Marathon, running 26. 2 miles around the city center.
The London Marathon has taken place every year since 1981. At the first one,

One exciting part from this year's race was the story of Jackie and her husband,

as Jackie was diagnosed (诊断)with cancer three years ago.

before the finish line to help another runner run the last 200m. They did not know
each other before, but Matthew saw that David was too tired to finish the race and

Fifthgrader Kayla Martel loves basketball. But her school doesn't have a girls'
team. So for the past four years, Kayla has played on the boys' team at St. John the
Apostle School in Clark, New Jersey. That hadn't been a problem until earlier this
year. The team was told that it either had to ask Kayla and another girl to leave the
team or end its season early.
The team, called the Chargers, plays in a league (联赛) that didn't allow mixed
teams after the fourth grade. When the league leader found out that there were girls in
the team, he gave the coaches bad news. The team could keep playing but only
without the girls.
Keisha Martel, Kayla's mum, is one of the Chargers' coaches. She asked the
team to take a vote (投票), knowing it would be difficult for the kids to choose.
The Chargers wasn't allowed to play for a few weeks, but then the league
changed its decision. The team, girls included, played the rest of the season. They
even made it to the championship (锦标赛) game and won!
Kayla has some advice for other teams. “Make sure you are family—you have

A
Inventions usually make a big difference to people's lives. Do you have any
great inventions at home? Do they help you a lot in your life or bring you much fun?
Here are some of the most useful inventions in families according to a survey.
The most helpful and creative invention for kids is the reading pen. With the
speciallydesigned pen, kids find it convenient and fun to learn. Little kids can learn a
lot including storytelling, poems and music. They start learning by touching the
contents in the books with the pen. This way kids can learn by themselves. They are
also great helpers for primary school students after school.
Mopping robots(扫地机器人)are popular with people who are too busy to do
housework. They are more popular with office ladies. They can help people clean dirt,
dust and hair easily. With the help of them, people don't need to spend much time on
housework. They can enjoy a more relaxing life after work.
As for old people, an electric foot basin(电动洗脚盆) is the best invention. It's a
good choice to buy one for your grandparents. It can help keep their blood pressure
normal and improve blood circulation(循环). The special basin can keep the water
warm. So washing feet with it will help old people become healthier and more
relaxed.
46. It is ____ for kids to learn with the reading pen.

B. convenient
C. difficult
D. fun
47. Mopping robots are more popular with ____.

B
The biggest secret about inventing is that anybody can do it! Perhaps this sounds
crazy, but it's true. Maybe you have the wrong idea about inventing, so read on to
discover the truth.
★Wrong idea No. 1:An invention has to be something completely new.
Inventing means creating something “new”, but the idea could come from
something that already exists(存在). The Wright Brothers, for example, got the idea
for building a “flying machine” from watching birds.
★Wrong idea No. 2:Inventors are born, not made.
69
There are a lot of factors(因素) that make invention possible. Take Mozart for an
example. He was born with a talent for musical composition. But other factors were
also important for his creativity. His father was a music teacher, and Mozart practiced
for hours every day, from the time he was four years old. Thomas Edison said that
being an inventor was “99% hard work and 1% inspiration”!
Very successful creators don't give up when they get something wrong. As one
inventor said, “A failure is the right answer to the wrong question. ”
★Wrong idea No. 3:Inventors are always old people.
Don't believe that you can't invent something when you are young. Here are two
examples of young inventors: Louis Braille went blind when he was a child. When he
was fifteen, he invented a system of reading and writing for blind people that is still
used in most countries today.
As a young man, George Nissen was watching some artists performing in a show.
He watched how they fell into the safety net and then jumped back up again. This
gave him an idea, and he invented the trampoline.
49. ____ got the idea for building a “flying machine” from watching birds.
A. Mozart
B. George Nissen
C. Louis Braille
D. The Wright Brothers
50. The underlined word “talent” means “____” in Chinese.
A. 态度
B. 品质
C. 天赋
D. 能量
51. Which of the following is the writer's opinion?
A. Anybody can do inventing.
B. Inventors are born, not made.
C. Inventors are always old people.
D. An invention has to be something completely new.
C
Dear Rita,
How are you? Last time you asked me about the greatest invention in my eyes. I
have also discussed it with my best friends, Anna, Sue and Kris. We have different
ideas. Anna thinks it is the highspeed railway; Sue, the shared bike; Kris, the online
shopping; and I prefer the Internet.
The Internet is just like a net, and it connects us with the world. In the past, it was
nearly impossible for people to communicate immediately with people in other
countries. They had to spend a long time to reach their destinations (目的地), and not
everyone could do that. But the Internet has made the impossible possible. Now we
can communicate with foreigners online.
The Internet also helps us know what is happening around the world, and has
made our life and work easier. In recent years, shopping online is very popular. We
can just stay at home and buy what we need online. We can also do online office work
70
and distance education. Besides, we can watch movies, listen to music and even play
games to relax ourselves on the Internet.
So, I think that the Internet is one of the greatest inventions. It has changed our
world! Although there are still many problems with the Internet, they will be solved in
the near future. As a student we should make good use of the Internet!
Yours,
Martin

As we all know, the “rice bowl” culture of China has influenced some Asian
countries such as Japan, Korea and Vietnam since we started to use chopsticks while
eating food.
Chopsticks are usually two long thin pieces of wood or bamboo. They can also be
made of plastic, animal bone or metal. (1) The most important thing is that chopsticks
are a great invention in China.
Five thousand years ago people usually cooked their food in large pots, using
twigs(小树枝)to remove it. (2) the population grew, people began cutting food into
small pieces. (3)Food in small pieces could be eaten easily with twigs by people. And
twigs were gradually changed into chopsticks.
Some people think that the famous scholar Confucius living from about 551 BC
to 479 BC pushed the development of chopsticks. Confucius believed that using
chopsticks instead of knives would remind people to stay away from killing and
violence at table.
We enjoy our delicious food with our family members or friends while feeling
the peaceful and peopleloving world by using chopsticks at table anytime.

十三、 In some schools, students begin to use electronic schoolbags in class. Is it
good or bad? Here are my group members' ideas about it.
Lily thinks an electronic schoolbag is not heavy and easy to carry. We can
get information easily. And it also makes us more interested in lessons. Peter
says if he uses it all day, it will be bad for his eyes. And he doesn't think it can
replace textbooks. Tina thinks it is expensive but it can protect the environment
because people don't need to cut down trees to make paper books. In my opinion,
it's easier for teachers to find each student's problem and help them.

According to The World Happiness Report, people who live in Denmark (丹麦)
are the happiest in the world. Why? Because they know the secret to
happiness—“hygge”. But what is “hygge”?
The Danish (丹麦的) word “hygge” (pronounced “hooga”) is often translated(翻
译 ) in English as “coziness”. But coziness paints only part of the picture. It's also
about spending peaceful time in a quiet environment with no calendar. It's about
spending time alone or spending time with family.
Danish people are very good at “hygge”. For example, they create a “hygge”
environment by burning candles in classrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, etc. According to
some reports, Danish people burn more candles every year than people from any other
European country.
However, “hygge” isn't just about creating a nice and warm environment; it is
best enjoyed with family members and friends. With up to 17 hours of darkness every
day in winter, Danish people spend more time indoors as a result, and they often get
together for a meal or hot drinks, without the distraction( 使 人 分 心 的 事 物 ) of
technology or the stress of daily life.
Still can't understand what “hygge” is? If you're reading this in a comfortable
chair, with a few candles around you, that sense of coziness you're feeling might just
be “hygge”.

76
D. Because they like burning candles when they have dinner with family or

Sydney's bestknown landmark and international symbol. The Sydney Opera House

public. 6,225 square meters of glass was used to build it. The Sydney Opera House

Fraser Island is in Queensland, Australia, about 200 kilometers north of Brisbane.
It is about 120 kilometers long and 240 kilometers wide. It is a very important island
because it is completely made of sand. In fact, it is the largest sand island in the world.
There is no airport on the island, but there is a long beach along the east coast. Planes
arrive and leave from here.
77
The sand makes unusual shapes. There are hills made of sand called sand blows.
Nothing grows on them. They move one or two meters a year from the northwest
towards the southeast of the island, getting bigger and bigger. At other places on the
island, such as Rainbow Gorge, the Cathedrals and Red Canyon, the sandy rocks have
different colors. Sometimes the rocks are so brown that they turn the sea brown, like
coffee.
Surprisingly, the sandy island has a lot of different plants and animals. There are
dark forests—eucalyptus woods, beautiful flowers and over a hundred lakes. There
are many kinds of birds, like owls and curlews. There are many animals there, too,
such as crocodiles, flying foxes and wild dogs called dingoes.
About 500,000 people visit the island every year to see the island's beauty and
nature. People enjoy camping and hiking(徒步)there. Unluckily, the visitors create
problems. They damage plants and frighten animals. Their sun cream(防晒霜)makes
the water dirty. So it is necessary to manage the visitors. For example, people may not
use motor boats or go fishing in the lakes, and they need official papers to drive there.
59. The passage is mainly about ____.
A. the shape of Fraser Island
B. nature on Fraser Island
C. the history of Fraser Island
D. daily life on Fraser Island
60. From the 3rd paragraph we can infer(推断)that the ____ is a kind of plant.

61. Visitors may not be allowed to ____ on Fraser Island soon.

Socotra: a land that time forgets
An island with beautiful white beaches and clear blue water full of colorful fish. . .
this is Socotra. It sounds nice, but it doesn't sound very unusual, does it? Well, there's
a lot more to Socotra than that. You can see things there that cannot be found
anywhere else in the world.
Socotra is in the west of Indian Ocean. It lies about 240 kilometres east of the
Horn of Africa and 380 kilometres south of the Arabian Peninsula. The island
separated from Africa many, many years ago, and over the time it has developed its
own unique (独一无二的) plant life. If you travel away from the beautiful beaches
and up into the rocky mountains in the middle of the island, you may feel like you're
going back in time.
Perhaps you'll see the desert rose, with its pretty pink flowers. The desert rose is a
“bottle” tree. It stores water in its fat trunk (树干). Like many of Socotra's plants, it
has developed to survive (存活) in the island's hot, dry climate.
One of the most unusual plants on Socotra is the “dragon's blood” tree. It is
shaped like an umbrella, with a lot of branches(树枝) under a green top. The tree gets
78
its name from the red sap(树液) that comes out when it is cut. This sap has been used
for centuries as a medicine and to make red paint.
Socotra isn't an easy place for tourists to visit. To get there, you need to fly from
Yemen. There are only a few hotels in its largest town, Hadibu, and the island doesn't
have many good roads. The people there live a very simple life. But more and more
visitors are coming to Socotra to see its unique natural beauty.

Maybe we three were the most unlucky graduates in our school history. I'll never
forget the day when we had our graduation ceremony (毕业典礼).
I was known for being careless. I often fell down for no reason. Since I fell off
the stage ( 舞 台 ) during my Primary Graduation Ceremony, my family bet that I
would fall down again during my next graduation ceremony. The day came so quickly.
This time, I proudly made it through the whole ceremony without falling. But I
knocked over the whole backdrop (背景板) used to take pictures for graduates. I felt
so embarrassed (尴尬的) the whole morning.
My friend Julia was even more embarrassed. When she together with all the
graduates was sitting quietly in the hall at eight in the morning, she didn't expect her
father to come to attend her ceremony because he was really busy then. The hall was
very quiet and you could even hear a pin ( 针 ) drop on the ground. Then all of a
sudden, out of the silence, she heard “Hey, Julia!”. Everyone in the hall looked behind
and found Julia's father, with a camera in his hand, smiling at her!
Tiffany was the most beautiful girl of us three. She loved all kinds of dresses. On
that day, she dressed herself beautifully and wanted to have some beautiful photos.
83
Unluckily, it was one of the windiest days of our life. The wind blew her beautiful

Wherever travellers go, cameras are sure to follow. It's great fun to take photos,
and even more fun to show slides of the trip to friends and relatives when they come
back home.
There's Aunt Sarah, smiling in front of Buckingham Palace; Aunt Sarah, smiling
under the Eiffel Tower; and Aunt Sarah, smiling in a Venetian Canal. Everyone
knows what Aunt Sarah looks like; they also know what Europe's great landmarks(地
标)look like.
But a young man named David, just back from a trip to Greece, asked a few
friends over to see his slides. The young man had an artist's eye. His pictures were not
of familiar Greek architectures. Instead,he took pictures of farmers at work in the
fields, fishermen repairing their nets, and bearded priests(牧师) bending over their
Bibles. He captured(抓住)the color and character of the country. His friends were so
interested that they asked for more.
Any amateur(外行)can do the same. All he needs is a simple camera and a little
sensitivity. When he learns that a nation lives in its people as well as in its landmarks,

Children across the world are taking pictures of their school meals. They are
sending these pictures over the Internet to a young girl in Scotland. Then she shares
the pictures and stories with people around the world.
The girl's name is Martha. She likes to write. So Martha decided to start her own
blog( 博 客 ). Every day,Martha writes on the Internet about the meals she eats at
school. She also takes pictures of the food.
Martha is very honest about the food. She does not just describe the food. She

Sometimes she likes the food, but sometimes she does not. Now,other people send

food!
Martha also started her blog for another important reason. She began to raise
money for the organization( 组 织 ) Mary's Meals. Mary's Meals works in the East
African country of Malawi. It provides food for children in schools. Martha

these past three years, I can feel that I enjoyed it very much.
My school offered a good educational environment, welltrained teachers, and
friendly schoolmates. I have many great memories here. My happiest memory is

Dear Jackie,
Hello from Hong Kong! My class tour of China is almost over. Hong Kong is our

bought some souvenirs (纪念品) to bring home. It was really a great day!
Yesterday, our group went to Disneyland (yes, there's one here)! The park was
crowded, and the lines for rides were long. Today is Monday, and we're going to
