Working as a vet(兽医), I met a family who taught me an unforgettable lesson. They came to my clinic(诊所) with their dying dog, Coco. I examined Coco and found she was old and had serious illness. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Coco, and euthanasia(安乐死) would be best for the dog.
On that day, their little boy Eric seemed so calm(冷静), petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if Eric understood what was going on. The little boy seemed to accept Coco's death without any difficulty. We sat together for a while after Coco's death, explaining that animal lives are shorter than human lives.
Eric, who had been listening quietly, said, “I know why.”
He said, “People need a lifetime to learn how to live a good life—like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right？” The 6yearold continued, “Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.”
I'd never heard a more softhearted explanation as to why animal lives are so short. It has changed the way I live. I see every day as the day that my life could be easily taken away, so I try to live my life to the fullest.

How to Make a Snowman
When winter comes with heavy snow, it's time to get out there and build a snowman! It's simple to roll up three snowballs, one large, one medium, and one small. Stack them up with the biggest on bottom and the smallest on top for the head. Then decorate the snowman with a face, clothing, arms, and any accessories that you want!
Part 1 Rolling up a Snowman
1 Pack a handful of snow together into a round shape. Set the snowball on the ground and begin rolling it forward. Keep rolling until the ball is about three feet wide to make the bottom section.
2 Form the middle section just as you did for the bottom section. This time, stop when the ball reaches about two feet wide. Pick it up and gently set it on the bottom section. Make sure that it sits right in the center of the bottom ball.
3 Make a onefoot snowball for the head and carefully place it on top of the snowman's body.
4 Pack some snow between the sections to give the snowman a uniform look from top to bottom.
Part 2 Decorating Your Snowman
1 Stick a carrot in the middle of the head for a nose. Make sure you place it so there is room above it for eyes and below it for a mouth.
2 Use round objects like buttons for two eyes. Place them above the carrot.
3 Make a mouth with a row of smaller buttons under the nose, but not too close to the middle section.

4 Add two sticks into the middle section of the snowman for the snowman's arms.
5 Top off the snowman with a hat and scarf. You can also add a tie, sunglasses, or any other things, but not a warm coat.
