Let students look at the pictures and ask them how the weather is.

(1)Listen carefully, point out each city in the picture as it comes upon the tape.
(2)Play the recording a second time. Ask students to write the city names in the boxes in 1a.
3.Check the answers.
Step 5 Pair work
1.Tell the students: Imagine you are in one of the places in the pictures above, talk about the weather with your friend in another city on the phone.
2.Make a model with a student like this:
T: Hi! How's the weather in Beijing?
S1: It's sunny.
3.Students work in pairs. Ask and answer questions about the weather in the cities.

1.Guessing Game: Prepare some cards before class. A student chooses a card and does some actions. Other students guess the weather according to the actions. Then lead to the new lesson.
2.Have a dictation: the words about the weather.

Work on 2a.
1.Let's see what Joe's family are doing. Point to the 4 pictures.
2.Ask students to tell what each person is doing in each picture. More attentions should be paid to the correct use of the Present Progressive Tense.
3.Play the recording for the students to listen and number the pictures [1-4].
4.Play the tape again for students to check the answers.
